37. Foams in Space
Prof Simon Cox
Aberystwyth University is one of several institutions worldwide involved in the experiments on foams being carried out on the International Space Station.
This long-running multinational study on the properties of wet foams in microgravity is leading to improved mathematical models of foam formation.
This is enabling the production of foods with a more consistent and longer-lasting texture and improvements to industrial processes such as oil extraction and mineral purification.
